Impact41 at Melofest Social Challenge
At the Project Melo Melofest Social Challenge 2024, we partnered with Link REIT to propose a scalable seaweed restoration initiative for marine biodiversity. Seaweed plays a critical role in marine ecosystems, absorbing excess nutrients, filtering water, and providing habitats. Our project integrates research, education, and cross-sector collaboration to restore native seaweed species.
After four months of dedicated research and development, the pitch on the nature-based solution earned both the UBS Award and the Most Popular Team Award.
Industry Benchmarking
2041 Hong Kong delivered a comprehensive benchmarking analysis on the state of sustainability in Hong Kong’s Convention and Exhibitions (C&E) industry to the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association. Developed to advance the industry’s global competitiveness and environmental stewardship, the report provides a strategic roadmap for aligning local practices with the city’s 2050 Climate Action Plan.
Curating Change Makers Stage at ReThink HK
ReThink HK is Hong Kong’s leading sustainability business conference, serving as a vital platform for cross-sector dialogue among corporate leaders, policymakers, NGOs, and youth advocates.
Since 2022, 2041 Hong Kong has collaborated with ReThink HK across multiple initiatives, including impact reporting, youth debates, and social experiments. Across the years, our involvement brought together more than 40 panellists and reinforced our commitment to inclusive, youth-driven solutions.

Robert Swan’s Live Broadcast
2041 Hong Kong and the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC) co-hosted a groundbreaking live broadcast, connecting Robert Swan’s latest Ice Station expedition to Hong Kong.
For 30 minutes, we had the privilege of speaking with Robert Swan — the first person in history to walk to both the North and South Poles — dialling in live from Antarctica. Remarkably, the entire call was powered solely by solar energy.

HKLA ESG Supply Chain Management Program
2041 Hong Kong played a key role in launching the Hong Kong Logistics Association’s pioneering ESG Supply Chain Management (ESG SCM) Program. We provided strategic support in program design, stakeholder engagement, and communications to help bring this landmark initiative to life. As a first-of-its-kind program in Hong Kong, it integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles directly into logistics operations.
Its innovative components include the establishment of Hong Kong’s first ESG Rating Agent task force to evaluate sector-wide performance and a professional accreditation scheme to build essential ESG capabilities.
Hong Kong Marine Protection Alliance (HKMPA)
2041 Hong Kong is a proud member of the Hong Kong Marine Protection Alliance (HKMPA), demonstrating our commitment to advancing marine conservation through policy and collaboration. At HKMPA’s Quarterly Members’ Meetings, our team engaged with leading experts, scientists, and policymakers, gaining critical insights into the status of local marine ecosystems and the governance of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
These exchanges informed our contribution to the alliance’s Joint Policy Recommendations submitted to the HKSAR Chief Executive for the 2024 Policy Address. Additionally, 2041 Hong Kong actively participated in HKMPA’s Nature-Based Solutions Working Group, helping shape actionable recommendations for the renewal of the Hong Kong Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP).
Greenway 2024: The Dialogue
At Greenway 2024: The Dialogue, 2041 Hong Kong was honoured to have co-founder Christie Lai represent us as the youngest speaker. Convened by a coalition including the European Union Office and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, this forum brought together cross-sector leaders to address critical themes like Green Finance and Green Innovation. This appearance on a major stage underscores 2041 Hong Kong’s commitment to amplifying youth voices, bridging intergenerational dialogue, and steering the conversation toward urgent, tangible action.
ReThink HK Social Experiments
2041 Hong Kong designed and delivered social experiments at ReThink HK . These studies examined sustainability decision-making among professionals and leaders, identifying key behavioral and knowledge gaps.
In 2022, we invited more than 100 sustainability professionals to participate in a recycling experiment using a common coffee cup setup-comprising a plastic lid, cardboard sleeve, and plastic-lined paper cup. While over 95% correctly sorted the lid and sleeve, only 34% disposed of the cup in the correct general waste bin, highlighting widespread misconceptions even among experts. The findings were published in a report that recommended improving bin labeling, increasing reuse infrastructure, and fostering public-private partnerships to reduce workplace waste.
In 2023, we introduced a simulation challenging participants to act as corporate leaders in energy, manufacturing, or agriculture and choose strategies to reduce biodiversity loss. The experiment revealed a critical need for more nuanced, inclusive, and sector-specific approaches to environmental strategy. Results were compiled into a report, outlining tailored recommendations for improving corporate biodiversity governance and stakeholder engagement.
In 2025, we partnered up with Centre for Civil Society and Governance (CCSG), HKU to conduct a Circular Economy Social Experiment with students from the Sustainable Leadership and Governance Masters’ Programme. We gathered insights from sustainability professionals to gauge public perception and assess the feasibility of implementing circular economy principles within Hong Kong.
